Application Guidelines

Online Application

Students must apply online for student exchange programs. Students can submit documents such as academic transcripts and certificates of language proficiency by uploading them through the website.

Application Documents

      The applicant him/herself must scan his/her academic transcript, certificate of language proficiency, and other necessary documents indicated below and upload the PDF files onto the website. If you do not have a scanner at home, use the computer facilities on campus.
Undergraduate students
      1. Photo

      3. Certificate(s) of language proficiency
        *If you have requested your language lecturer to prepare a proof of language proficiency, upload the confirmation email of the application for the foreign language proficiency review.
      4. Written oath
        *Download from below and place you and your guarantor's signature or seal.

Graduate students and fourth-year undergraduate students planning to continue on to a graduate school
      1. Photo

        *If you have requested your language lecturer to prepare a proof of language proficiency, upload the confirmation email of the application for the foreign language proficiency review.
      4. Approval to study abroad
      5. Letter of acceptance
      6. GRE test score (if applicable)
      7. Certificate of admission from the graduate school (if applicable)
      8. Written oath
        *Download from below and place you and your guarantor's signature or seal.

Transcript of Academic Record

・Upload the latest Transcript of Academic Record (seiseki shomeisho). (Available at certificate machines on each campus or at convenience stores; please note that this is different from the academic transcript (gakugyo seisekihyo on keio.jp) .

・If you are applying for the Fall Round Application, please upload Transcript of Academic Record up to the spring semester issued after September 22. For the Spring Round Application, please upload Transcript of Academic Record of Academic Record up to the fall semester.

・For information on issuing Transcript of Academic Record, please refer to the Student website.

Certificate(s) of language proficiency

Certificates of language proficiency must be uploaded by the deadline. Late uploads, regardless of the reason will not be accepted.

Taking classes in English:
A certificate of language proficiency issued by an official English language testing body.
-TOEFL (iBT) or IELTS

Taking classes in languages other than English:
Upload either a certificate from a language proficiency test or a proof of language proficiency issued by your language lecturer.

*In principle, please upload Certificates of language proficiency tests issued by official organizations. Only when you cannot ready an official language score in the designated period, you are permitted to submit a proof of language proficiency issued by your language lecturer.


*Procedures for submitting a proof of language proficiency issued by your language lecturer

Under internal screening, you are required to submit an official language score, but you are also permitted to submit a foreign language certificate issued by the language lecturer. The steps are as follows:

1. Please consult the lecturer responsible for the language you are going to be using on exchange beforehand, and be sure to receive a firm consent. In principle, you are required to consult a lecturer in charge of courses at Keio. Make sure to hand the lecturer the "Instructions on commencing the Foreign Language Examination (in Japanese)" and portray the following information.

-The foreign language examination is required in commencing with the exchange program screening
-Information of your university/exchange program destination of choice
-That you are requesting for about 10 minutes of foreign language examination in the required language of the destination of exchange
-If the consultation of the examination is accepted, the International Center will be contacting the professor separately with further information.

2. After receiving consent from the lecturer, fill in this form and send by 4:45 p.m. on Friday, September 15. After sending, please make sure that you have received an auto-generated confirmation e-mail.

3. Later, the International Center will contact the lecturer directly with information on how to execute the examination.

4. Make sure to keep in touch with the lecturer in receiving the examination.

・You may sign and submit the English version of the "Seiyakusho (Written Oath) if you and/or your guarantors prefers to do so.

If you do not have a scanner at home, you can use the on-campus computer facilities below :

Notes for Applying

    • The applicant him/herself must enter and submit the online application.
    • Make sure to follow all the instructions (e.g., full-width/half-width characters).
    • Make sure to keep a printout of your online application for your own records.
    • Applications or documents found to be incomplete or to contain errors may not be considered for selection. The university does not contact applicants even if any errors or omissions are discovered in the applications, so make sure you carefully check your application.
    • Applications made outside the application period are invalid. Late submissions, regardless of the reason (e.g., data was submitted late or was not sent because of issues with your computer or there was too much web traffic), will not be accepted. Try to apply as early as possible as the website may be busy on the last day of the application period.
