University profile Renmin University of China (RUC, also known as the People's University of China) is a key university in China. The RUC's strengths emphasize the humanities and social sciences; however, the university also embraces disciplines in the area of natural sciences. The RUC is a comprehensive research-orientated university. The RUC was established in 1937, during the resistance war against Japanese aggression. The University acquired its present name on October 3, 1950, which made it the first university to be established by the newly founded People's Republic of China.
Undergraduate programs open to exchange students Students who wish to take classes taught in Chinese must have HSK Level 6 certificate. The Chinese language training program is available to those students without HSK Level 6 certificate. Some English-taught classes are available in Law School, Business School, School of Economics, School of International Studies, School of Journalism and Communication, School of Finance and School of Public Administration and Policy. The Law School restricts course enrollment to students with demonstrated legal education background. The Business School exclusively offers English-taught courses for exchange students. Course registration in the Business School is strictly bound by academic level: undergraduates are permitted to take undergraduate courses exclusively, and graduate students may only register for graduate courses. Course offerings vary by semester, and the updated course list is normally provided one week before the start of each semester.

Scholarship information A monthly stipend and boarding fee waiver is available for 1 student/semester. The amount is RMB 2,500 per month for undergraduate student and RMB3,000 per month for graduate student.
