University profile Beijing Normal University is a renowned institution of higher education known for teacher education, and other diciplines in arts and sciences. BNU is especially renowned for areas such as Education, Psychology, Chinese History, Geography and Ecology, Chinese Language and Literature, Theatre, Film and Television and System Science. The school has 22,000 full-time students, including 8,900 undergraduates, 11,300 graduates and 1,800 long-term international students. The campus has 1 education faculty, 22 schools and colleges, 2 departments and 36 research institutes. The library boasts over 4.1 million volumes and some 17,300 GB of digital resources, with 1,400 GB e-books.
Undergraduate programs open to exchange students Chinese Language Programme
- This programme is designed for International Students, and different levels of Chinese language classes will be provided, ranging from beginners to advanced. After registration, students will take a placement test to determine their appropriate class.

- Students will study at the School of International Chinese Language Education, but they cannot choose courses from other schools.

- Chinese-taught programmes:
Students can only take undergraduate courses and choose all or most of their courses from one academic school.

- English-taught programmes:

Students can choose any courses from the listed English course catalogue. Students will be enrolled in on academic school where they can choose all or most of their courses.

*Exchange students can choose one Chinese language course (6 credits) for free at the School of International Chinese Language Education.

Scholarship information ------
Dormitory information BNU will try to provide dorms to exchange students. However, if room spaces are limited, BNU may not guarantee dorms for exchange students.
Accommodation Application Deadline: Early January (for spring semester); Mid July (for fall semester). It' s highly suggested that students apply for accommodation as soon as they get the admission notice and the student ID number.
