| Undergraduate programs open to exchange students | All faculties are open, except for the Stephens Family School of Medicine and Faculty of Graduate Studies. Please note that graduate students are admitted to individual academic departments directly. | Graduate programs open to exchange students | Graduate applications must be approved by the relevant academic unit. Some of SFU's graduate programs are oversubscribed, or are otherwise unsuitable for hosting exchange students. As such, admission to the preferred graduate program is not guaranteed. Once students have been nominated and applied for exchange with all of the required documents, SFU's study abroad officers will submit a request to the academic department in which they have indicated wanting to take courses or conduct research. If students are approved by this department, they will be admitted to the university as a graduate student under this department. If they are planning to take courses, they will be required to take at least one graduate level course in this department and access to courses from additional departments cannot be guaranteed. If the request is not approved, SFU's study abroad officers will ask for an alternative department in which students want to take classes. If it is not possible for students to be admitted into a suitable graduate department, SFU can admit them as an undergraduate student, if they wish. |

| Dormitory information | SFU's on-campus residence is located at the Burnaby Campus. It is 5-15 minutes walking distance to most buildings on the Burnaby Campus and approximately 45-60 minutes by public transportation to the Surrey and Vancouver campuses. Places in residence are offered on a first-come-first-serve basis and are not guaranteed, so students are encouraged to apply as early as possible.
