University profile Illinois Wesleyan University (IWU), an independent, residential, liberal arts university founded in 1850, strives to attain the ideal of a liberal education while providing unique opportunities with its distinctive curricula and programs. With an undergraduate student population of 2,000, the university offers a tightly knit, supportive community and a variety of opportunities for close interaction with excellent faculty. IWU maintains a faculty-to-student ratio of 1 to 11 and average class size of 17 students. Special emphasis is placed on developing each student's critical thinking and communication skills, cultural literacy and global awareness. IWU offers over 40 major courses of study, as well as 8 pre-professional programs (such as pre-medical studies and pre-law) and 5 professional programs in music, art theatre, nursing and business.

▪ほとんどの授業が少人数で行われるため教授と学生の距離が近く、どの教授も丁寧に質問に対応してくれる。
▪小さい大学(1,900人くらい)のため、友だちが簡単にできる。
▪基本的に裕福な人達が住む街なので治安はかなり良い。
▪留学生の割合が少ないため、アメリカ人の友だちができやすい。
