| University profile | Bogazici University is an institution with strong roots, bright students, and an excellent faculty. Established in 1863, it has the distinction of being the first American college founded outside the United States. It has cherished a liberal tradition that respects individual rights and freedoms. In 1971, it became a public university. It recruits students from among the best who take a competitive central exam administered by the state. Bogazici University has a distinguished faculty with a wide spectrum of interests who take pride in keeping up with the latest research. Bogazici University has four faculties under which academic disciplines are organized: Arts and Sciences, Engineering, Administrative Sciences and Education. It has about 12,315 students of which 5% are international. |
