2013年5月23日、ウェスタンミシガン大学（米国）のジョン・M.・ダン学長一行が三田キャンパスを訪問し、ウェスタンミシガン大学・慶應義塾大学交流50周年を記念するレセプションに出席されました。レセプションでは、ダン学長と阿川常任理事から挨拶があり、長年の交流の歴史や今後の交流の発展について語りました。記念品の交換が行われた後、ウェスタンミシガンのステファン・コベル博士が、松田邦紀在デトロイト日本国総領事から寄せられた、両大学の交流が日本とミシガン州の関係発展に貢献しているとの祝辞を紹介しました。
レセプションには、1960年代初頭に行われたサマープログラムに参加された塾員、現在来日中のウェスタンミシガンからの交換留学生や、今年の夏からウェスタンミシガンへ派遣される交換留学生など、両大学の交流に関わる人々が集い親交を深めました。
On May 23, 2013, a delegation led by President John M. Dunn from Western Michigan University visited Mita Campus and attended a reception to mark a 50-year milestone in academic exchange between Western Michigan University and Keio. At the reception, President Dunn and Keio University Vice-President for International Collaboration, Professor Naoyuki Agawa, spoke of the rich history of the program and each school's commitment to its future. Following the exchange of commemorative gifts, Dr. Stephen Covell of Western Michigan University presented a letter, addressed to the presidents of both universities, from Mr. Kuninori Matsuda, Consul General of Japan in Detroit, commending the exchange program between the two institutions and its contributions to academic relations between Japan and Michigan.
The reception was attended by participants of the study abroad programs between Western Michigan University and Keio University over the years, including members of the first summer program in 1962, Western Michigan students currently studying at Keio, and Keio students preparing to depart for Western Michigan this summer. Former, current, and future students alike enjoyed sharing their experiences and expectations.
