Graduate Studies Program(GSP)

Graduate Studies Program(GSP) is intended to be open to master's graduate students who wish to take graduate-level courses through affiliation with a Graduate School of Keio University.

Notes:
- GSP students must register for a minimum of 7 courses per semester.
- There will be no academic advisors for each student.
- Students who choose this program are not allowed to change programs.

Eligibility

Students must be enrolled in a graduate school (or equivalent) at their home institution.

* If you are a Ph.D. student and wish to apply, please contact us in advance since it may be difficult to accomodate a Ph.D. student.

Program Requirement

If students are applying to the Graduate School of Letters, Law, or Human Relations, they must provide at least ONE of the following proofs of Japanese language proficiency via the application system.

  • Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) N1 certificate

  • Study Plan (Section III of Study Proposal) written in Japanese

Graduate Courses

Most courses are conducted in Japanese

Generally, students who test into the advanced(*1) or higher study level on the Japanese Language Program placement test may take the courses conducted in Japanese.

(*1)Advanced level means a student has both an advanced vocabulary (8,000 words) and advanced knowledge of kanji (1,500 characters) and is able, in Japanese, to audit university lectures, read text/reference books, write papers with advanced sentence structures, and take examinations

GSP students may take up to 4 Japanese Language Courses offered by the Japanese Language Program.

GSP students (excluding Law School students) may also choose International Center Courses.

However, please note that most International Center Courses are at the undergraduate level.
