Scholarships

*This section covers scholarship opportunities for international students whose residence status is "student."

To apply for scholarships through the university, you must complete both Step 1 and Step 3 below.
Also to apply for "Monbukagakusho Honors Scholarship offered by JASSO", you must complete both Step 1 and Step 2.
You will NOT be permitted to apply for scholarships if you skip any steps.

* "New students" are classified as those who enrolled at Keio in April 2025.
All others are considered "Current students."

[Step 1] [Step 2]: Complete the Scholarship Registration
To apply for scholarships, you must complete scholarship registration within the designated period every semester (spring and fall).
Students who have a "Reservation Notice for Monbukagakusho Honors Scholarship for Privately-Financed International Students" (JASSO, ¥48,000 a month) must also complete [Step 1], Scholarship Registration, within the designated period.
If you do not complete this step, you cannot proceed to [Step 2], the JASSO application.

* Current students must register no later than 11:00 a.m. on March 24, 2025.
* NEW students must register no later than 11:00 a.m. on April 8, 2025.
* The office is closed on weekends and holidays. We strongly recommend that you complete the registration process well in advance, as there may be some questions that arise during the actual registration process.

* Registration is possible even outside of office hours (Saturday, Sunday, etc.), but please note that questions or inquiries cannot be answered on those days.

Step 3: Apply for Scholarships(As necessary)
Once you have completed the scholarship registration, you can apply for scholarships offered by each foundation.
After obtaining scholarship information and carefully reviewing the application requirements, please prepare the designated application form and documents, then submit them via the designated Google Form.

*Please be aware that it may not be possible to open an account at the counter on the same day you apply.
*Note that Japan Post Bank's ordinary savings account is required to apply for JASSO.

Submission of copy of residence card

All international students are required to submit their residence card to the International Office of their main campus on the following occasions:

① When you enter Keio University
② When the extension of your period of stay is approved and you obtain a new residence card,
③ When a change in your status of residence is approved and you obtain a new residence card,
④ When you newly obtain "Permission to Engage in Activity other than that Permitted under the Status
of Residence Previously Granted"


Please attach a photograph, etc., that shows both your student ID card (after acquisition) and your residence card and upload it to the residence card submission form using a file name formatted as follows.

*Make sure your address is printed on the residence card.
*The 12 digits of your residence card number must be clearly shown in the image.

1.Students who are first entering Japan on a new visa or re-entering Japan on existing visa

2.Students who plan to return to university from a temporary leave of absence

Students who plan to return to university from overseas must first obtain a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) and then apply for a visa.
Please contact the International Section of Hiyoshi Office of Student Services 3-4 months prior to the date you plan to enter Japan.

3.Students whose re-entry or residence card period has expired while they are outside of Japan

Students must obtain a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) and then apply for a visa.
Please contact the International Section of Hiyoshi Office of Student Services 3-4 months prior to the date you plan to enter Japan.

4.Students who wish to change their status of residence or change their period of stay

Students who wish to change their status of residence or extend their period of stay are required to go to the Immigration Services Bureau and complete the procedures by themselves.
If you wish to extend your period of stay, please complete the procedures as soon as possible before your period of stay expires.
