Objectives
- To support future researchers deepen their knowledge of Japan
- To assist graduate students develop their theses under the supervision of a Keio academic faculty member
- To provide graduate students with opportunities to expand their cultural experience and to build an international, academic network at Keio University
This program does NOT provide any internship opportunities.
Eligibility
- Must be enrolled in a graduate degree program (master's or doctorial) at an overseas univeristy
- Must be graduate students who wish to conduct part of their thesis research at Keio University
- Must have permission from their home institutions and academic supervisors to apply for Thesis@Keio
- It is advisable for applicants to have completed their first year of graduate study at their home institutions
Duration
- For anywhere between 7 and 89 days* throughout the academic year
*Including Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays
It is advisable for applicants to avoid the following periods when the univeristy is closed:
- May 3 to 6, 2024
- August 9 to 19, 2024
- December 28, 2024 to January 6, 2025
- Entrance-exam weeks during the first half of February
*Exact dates vary year to year.
Program Fee
The program fee varies depending on the duration of your research period:
- 07 to 14 days - 40,000 JPY
- 15 to 30 days - 60,000 JPY
- 31 to 56 days - 80,000 JPY
- 57 to 89 days - 100,000 JPY
Successful applicants will be asked to make the payment by credit card (VISA or Master Card).

- Student dormitories are NOT available. Please arrange your own accommodations.
- Please arrange your own overseas health/travel insurance by yourself prior to your arrival at Keio.
