Duration

For anywhere between 7 and 89 days* throughout the academic year

*Including Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays

It is advisable for applicants to avoid the following periods when the university is closed:

  • August 11 to 18, 2025
  • December 29, 2025 to January 5, 2026
  • Entrance-exam weeks during the first half of February
  • *Exact dates vary year to year.

Eligibility

  • Must be enrolled in a graduate degree program (master's or doctoral) at an overseas university
  • Must be graduate students who wish to conduct part of their thesis research at Keio University
  • Must have permission from their home institutions and academic supervisors to apply for Thesis@Keio
  • It is advisable for applicants to have completed their first year of graduate study at their home institutions

Program Fee

The program fee varies depending on the duration of your research period:

  • 07 to 14 days - 40,000 JPY

  • 15 to 30 days - 60,000 JPY

  • 31 to 56 days - 80,000 JPY

  • 57 to 89 days - 100,000 JPY

*Successful applicants will be asked to make the payment by credit card (VISA or Master Card).

*The program fee is NOT refundable.

Accommodation

Student dormitories are NOT available.

Please arrange your accommodations on your own as Keio does not offer any assistance.

Other

Please arrange your own overseas health/travel insurance by yourself before you arrive at Keio.

Successful Applicants...

  • Will be sent necessary documents for their visa applications (if applicable).
  • Will have supervision and guidance from a Keio academic faculty member.
  • Will be able to conduct thesis research at Keio for anywhere between 7 and 89 days at any time during the academic year (to be arranged with an assigned supervisor at Keio).
  • Will have academic networking opportunities in Japan.
  • Will have access to the Keio University Media Center, one of the most renowned university libraries in Japan.
  • Will have assistance in finding accommodation.
