Objectives
|
This program aims to support future researchers deepen their knowledge of Japan and provides graduate students with opportunities to expand their cultural experience and to build an international, academic network at Keio University.
|
Eligibility
|
・Applicants must be enrolled in a graduate degree program (master's or doctoral) at an overseas university.
・Applicants must be graduate students who wish to conduct part of their thesis research at Keio under the supervision of a Keio academic faculty member.
・Applicants must have permission from their home institutions and academic supervisors to apply for Thesis@Keio.
- It is advisable for applicants to have completed their first year of graduate study at their home institutions.

Duration
|
- Successful applicants may conduct their thesis research at Keio for anywhere between 7 and 89 days.
- Applicants may apply for a period (of research at Keio) of their choice throughout the academic year, except when the university is closed. (i.e., mid-August, from late December to early January, entrance-exam weeks during the first half of February, and from late April to early May *Exact dates vary year to year.)

Successful Applicants
|
• will be sent necessary documents for their visa applications (if applicable).
• will have access to the Keio University Media Center, one of the most renowned university libraries in Japan, and a shared research space.* (*available only on Mita Campus)
• will have academic networking opportunities in Japan.
• will have supervision and guidance from a Keio academic faculty member.
• will be able to conduct thesis research at Keio for anywhere between 7 and 89 days at any time during the academic year (to be arranged with an assigned supervisor at Keio).
• will be required to have the first interview with the assigned supervisor upon arrival.
• will be required to give a final presentation or report to their Keio supervisors before returning to their home institutions.

Expected Costs
|
Program Fee 7 to 14 days - 30,000 JPY 15 to 30 days - 50,000 JPY 31 to 56 days - 60,000 JPY 57 to 89 days - 70,000 JPY
- Period includes Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. - Program Fee excludes lab fees. - Successful applicants will be asked to make the payment by credit card (VISA or Master Card).
Accommodation - Accommodation fee is around 6,000 yen per night at a nearby hotel. - Dormitory rooms are not available.

Living expenses
Health/travel insurance expenses *Successful applicants are responsible for arranging their own overseas health/travel insurance and are required to submit a proof of coverage prior to their arrival at Keio.
