The Student Health Insurance Union Medical Care Benefit System

Regular undergraduate and graduate students at Keio University are members of the Student Health Insurance Union (Gakusei Kenko Hoken Gojo Kumiai).
After you have received medical treatment for injury or disease, bring an "Iryo-hi Ryoshu Shomei-sho (Certificate of Medical Expense Receipt)" in which the medical institution/facility has filled out the medical expense, or to which the receipt from the medical institution/facility is attached, to the Office of Student Services (Student Life Services). You must do this by the last day of the fourth month counting from the month in which you received medical treatment, and counting that month as the first month. For example, whether you received medical treatment on August 5 or 31, in both cases you must submit a Certificate of Medical Expense Receipt by November 30.
Later, the Student Health Insurance Union will transfer to your bank account a partial reimbursement for the amount of medical expenses that you personally paid. One month of treatment over the same treatment period at the same medical facility or department is considered as one case, and 1,000 yen will be withheld from each case as a co-payment. Medical treatment received at orthopedic clinics, osteopathic clinics and acupuncture-moxibustion clinics is not covered.

Please Note: Japanese Language Program students, Keio International Program students, and Research students do not join this insurance so they cannot have their medical expenses covered by this system.
