Basic Information and Registration Procedure

Basic

Information

The curriculum of the International Center Courses focuses on Japan and East/Southeast Asia as a central theme. They are mainly for international students from overseas and conducted in English. As Japanese students can also take these courses, they can provide students with opportunities for international exchange through study.

There are also Independent Study courses, in which students may arrange to receive individual supervision for their research from an academic advisor, and Keio Economics Professional Career Programme (PCP) courses offered by the Faculty of Economics.

Independent Study and PCP courses require submission of documents beforehand, after which we will screen applicants. The procedure and deadline for application submission are different from other courses. Please read “Notes” and “Procedures and Schedule” on p.2-3 carefully so as not to miss the deadline for application submission.

Independent Study (International Center)

Basic Information

The purpose of the Independent Study Course is to enable students to conduct research on a topic of their choice under the guidance and supervision of an academic staff member of Keio University. This usually involves meetings between the student and the academic staff member. Students will be required to submit a substantial piece of written work that reports the results of their research. Students may also be required to make an oral presentation on their research.

Registration does not imply course acceptance, as the International Center reserves the right to screen all applications. Students are personally responsible for finding an academic advisor at Keio University who is willing to supervise the proposed research - the International Center does not provide any assistance in this regard.

*PCP also offers the Independent Study Course (see
PCP course list) for the Fall semester. Please note that this is different to the Independent Study Course offered by the International Center (the course content and registration procedures are entirely different.)
