Computers: |
| |
Only a few Japanese-language-capable
computers will be available for conference participants at a
makeshift computer booth at the Conference Secretariat. You will
not be able to use other computers on the Mita Campus of Keio
University. |
| |
If you like to use your own computer on
the Mita Campus, you need to register its MAC address at the
time you confirm your participation through the online
registration system. Please note that you might also need to
bring a transformer depending on where you come from. |
| |
The MAC address (the physical address or
hardware address) lets us identify you on the network so that we
can assign you a valid IP address.
Usually, the address for your network card is physically located
on the card. It might be on a sticker or printed directly on the
card often by a barcode. It is a twelve-digit number of
hexadecimal characters (0-9, a-f).
It will usually look like this: 00-E0-29-44-9b-2b. |
| |
If you don't know how to find your MAC
address, please look at the following web page at:
http://www.dur.ac.uk/its/services/network/lan/mac/ <Durham
University> |
| |
Presenters are expected to use only the
built-in computer that will be available in each lecture
theatre, and to use PowerPoint for their presentations. |
| |
Please bring your PowerPoint file on a USB
(memory stick). If you are using Windows Vista or the 2007
Microsoft Office system, your file should be prepared in a way
that is compatible with a pre-released version of the system.
Please avoid using two-byte characters and spaces at all times.
(Please do not use “ 、”,
use commas instead.) |
| |
All hotel rooms have fiber optic LAN
connections free of charge.
However, you will need to bring your own computer, PC/LAN card,
and cable to use them. For more information on the
hotel's internet facilities, please visit their web site at:
http://www.villa-fontaine.co.jp/eng/mita/index.html. |
|
 |
Food: |
|
Breakfast and lunch are provided for free during the conference.
If you want to eat something else, you will pay around 700 -
1000 yen. |
|
Except for the Welcome Reception and Conference Dinner scheduled
as part of the conference program, dinner is at your own
expense. Dinner will cost at least 1000 yen, but if you drink,
you will pay at least 3000 yen. |
|
However, there are many fast food and convenience stores around
the city, so it is also possible to eat something that costs you
only about 500 yen. |
 |
Banking: |
|
There are
ATMs of Mizuho Bank, Sumitomo-Mitsui Bank, and Bank of Tokyo
-Mitsubishi UFJ on the Mita Campus. If you have a cash card with
the mark PLUS or STAR, you can use these machines to withdraw
cash in Japanese yen.
|
|
Please be
aware that there are few places near by where you can change
foreign currency into Japanese yen. The Tamachi branch of the
Bank of Tokyo-Mistubishi UFJ by the JR Tamachi Station is
probably the best place to exchange $US into yen. |
