The Criteria for Judging Abstracts

An abstract for the 8th DSC to be held at Keio University should deal with each of the following five points:

1) Purpose of the paper &/or questions/issues being attacked
2) Important assumptions of the analysis being undertaken
(i.e. argument &/or hypothesis)
3) Methodology &/or data
4) What's new? (the contribution of the paper)
5) Implication of the results/findings

Each abstract will be judged on the extent to which it adequately addresses each of these five points. In addition, consideration will be given to ensure that across
all the abstracts there is

(a) an appropriate university balance;
(b) an appropriate discipline balance; and
(c) an appropriate country balance.

Students who submitted their abstracts before the release of these criteria can revise their abstracts once in the light of these criteria if they wish to do so.
